How much olive oil should a healthy diet contain?

The study PREDIMED has found out that people who follow a Mediterranean diet with extra virgin olive oil lose weight compared to those consuming other low fats.

Experts recommend consuming 40 millilitres (37 grams) of olive oil a day to obtain all the benefits of the product.

Mediterranean Diet with virgin olive oil the great 'ally' Heart

This is the main conclusion of the study Spanish Predimed (Prevention with Mediterranean diet), which has been published in the medical journal of greater international impact.

The Mediterranean Diet supplemented with extra-virgin olive oil or dried fruits (nuts, hazelnuts and almonds) reduces as much as 30 percent the risk of major cardiovascular complications (Myocardial Infarction, stroke or cardiovascular death) in patients at high cardiovascular risk.
